Dr Ilkka Hannula

Independent advisor on industrial decarbonisation, renewable heat, and sustainable fuels.

A former Senior Energy Analyst at the International Energy Agency, he led the Agency's programme of work on renewable energy technologies — advising governments and international organisations on renewable energy deployment, industrial decarbonisation, and energy transition strategies.

He is an Associate Researcher with the Energy Policy Research Group at the University of Cambridge, and an alumnus of the Energy Systems Analysis Group at Princeton University.

Dr Hannula has lead-authored and reviewed technology and policy reports on renewable energy that supported the G7, G20, and COP processes. His scientific work is available on Google Scholar. He writes essays on the role of renewables in the energy transition at Abated.
